ioSafe's Policy for the WEEE and RoHS DirectivesioSafe produces a variety of electronic sub-assemblies and end-user equipment. Most of the electronic system sub-assemblies produced by ioSafe are integrated into end-user equipment by our customers or by professional installers. ioSafe equipment is meant to be plugged into computer systems using a USB cable, or installed in a fixed rack system and provide disaster recovery backup for other equipment. ioSafe equipment is designed to provide business continuity and disaster recovery as a part of a larger system. Therefore, ioSafe equipment is typically used as a component of a larger fixed installation as defined by the European Commission's Frequently Asked Questions document as a "combination of several items of equipment, systems, finished products and/or components assembled and/or erected by an assembler/installer at a given place to operate together in an expected environment to perform a specific task, but not intended to be placed onto the market as a single functional or commercial unit." Based on this definition, ioSafe is not covered by the WEEE and RoHS Directive. However, to assist our customers, ioSafe will accept the return of any ioSafe equipment and process this using an approved recycling agent. ioSafe may charge a fee for this service. If you have any questions about this policy, please contact customerservice@iosafe.com, or mail us your question to ioSafe, Inc., 2422 Lindbergh Street, Auburn California, 95602. |
